I take him to mean it in a general sense, as in there is an implied “every day” in that sentence.
And here I thought the .50 calibre machine gun was what saved his life during his period of war crimes and attrocities in Vietnam.
I want to know more about his little ChiCom “souvenir”, personally.
Is it really an assault rifle? If so, was it NFA registered, or does he possess it ilegally? (Or is it deactivated?)
If it’s a Simonov carbine or other semi-automatic, it’s not an assault rifle, though at least it wouldn’t be illegal to possess without NFA registration.
Nels – I would have thought that Swift Boat sailors wouldn’t have had much to do with M-16s on a day to day basis. To me this sounds like a failed pander.
I wonder if there is any topic under the sun into which Kerry can’t/won’t drag Vietnam. He even brought up Vietnam when he once said that his favorite food is peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Honest.
I strongly dislike Kerry, but…
It is right to shoot an enemy attempting to escape. It is wrong to shoot an enemy attempting to surrender, and this is why the enemy is strongly encouraged to surrender rather than try to escape.
The fact that the enemy is young does not seem especially relevant.
LTEC – I don’t disagree with your points. I just wonder if that episode is what Kerry had in mind in saying the M-16 saved his live and the life of his crew.
So, Kerry admits to owning a Chinese assault rifle. Now we know why he has achalet in Idaho. Can’t legally possess that hardware in his Beacon Hill estate in Boston, even with a Massachusetts Class A License to Carry.
Nope, no hypocrisy here, from the anti-gun rights senator from massachusetts. none at all.
But Bruce, you have to understand –
He owned the assault rifle before he owned the assault rifle. However, he probably owns it only because he … aw, forget it.
