Thanks for your role in advocating for Seniors, who are descriminated in numerous ways. Currently, the HR 3200 Health Legislation has potential discriminatory potential against seniors. Evaluation of a Senior’s “worth” in relationship to receiving medical treatment reminds me of the eugenics-like activities used in science fiction plots of the early 1950’s—how prophetic!!

However, you should verify and use the following information to discredit the AARP disservice to Seniors whenever you appear publicly or write articles:

A few years ago in California, AARP supported the CA Constitutional Amendment, Proposition 56 if I am not mistaken—please verify.

Proposition 56 was intended to lower the 67% voting margin required to pass tax initiatives, bond issues and other related financial issues under CA Constitution to 55% or 51%.

Government bodies would have an easier pathway to convincing the public to vote their way for increased taxes and state spending.

Proposition 13, current Constitutional Amendment, protects seniors and others on fixed incomes from not surrendering their homes prematurely due to property tax increases sponsored by greedy politicians. Proposition 56 may have eliminated this advantage where

property taxes can only rise 2% of tax collector’s assessed property value.

Although Proposition 56 didn’t pass, it was still leading in voter preference one month before the election. I remember AARP TV

commercials supporting the Proposition. Please check my information in case I had a “senior moment.”

Additionally Obama’s recent comment referencing private enterprise (FEDEX, UPS) competing well against the US Post Service is not an accurate analogy. US Code allows only USPS to handle first class mail. FEDEX, UPS, et al, handle only the more lucrative packaging deliveries. USPS Express Mail = $13 and FEDEX next-day under $10.00 for similar service a couple of years ago. Only Huckabee picked up on this last Sunday.

Thank you for your efforts. I hope that my data will help you make more penetrating presentations.

[JSR – The commenter added the following]

My post a few minutes ago was in response to Helene Rosenberg’s cogent, clearly presented responses to questions on today’s Glen Beck’s Show.

Since an email address is not posted I should like to use this method to forward info to you for your use periodically.

I am a former Professor of Art & Design at a CA university and it is part of my education and career experience, as a designer, to investigate my client’s needs, prospects, demographics, etc. This frequently leads to measuring local government roles played in relationship to a client.

Therefore, I am aware of government influence in all aspects of living, specially in Mexico and Brazil where I have worked extensively.

For example, no middle class Mexican (that I know) prefers the Social Security hospital system. My Mexican colleagues & friends cross the border to their American doctor or visit their Mexican private physician. Mexican doctors and dentists are of excellent caliber and many are certified to practice in CA. However, the delivery system is a question.

In São Paulo, medical treatment is easier to attain. There are medical insurance programs as Gold Cross. Medical research is excellent and Brazil is light years ahead of the USA anti-toxins for reptile bites. There was panic one year because in Rio there were 5 cases of Dengue Fever. Concurrent to that announcement, we had 125 cases in Honolulu with 5 deaths!!

Anyway, .I admire your wife and you for your courageous work. Keep it up. If you need info on language and visual perception issues, please contact me.
