New Polling Data On MCRI!

Polling data on the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative has been erratic, or inconsistent, or at least even less helpful, in my opinion, than polls usually are. With that caveat in mind, here is another interesting Michigan poll.

In the Monday debate between Gov. Jennifer Granholm and her Republican challenger, Dick DeVos, both candidates lost ground.

[Detroit] News pollster Ed Sarpolus said the drop-off in support may be traced to Monday night’s televised debate, which drew an estimated 1 million Michigan viewers. Four of 10 poll participants tuned into the spirited sparring match.

“The poll suggests both candidates were harmed by the debate, that neither walked away unscathed,” Sarpolus said.

He believes that independent women voters “thought the governor was overly aggressive in the first debate. DeVos apparently was not aggressive enough for his base soldiers, particularly men.”

So, women thought Granholm was not feminine enough, and men thought DeVos was not manly enough. Fascinating.

More interesting to me (especially since I suspect Michigan might well be better off if both Granholm and DeVos lost) were the results (4 point margin of error) regarding MCRI: “49 percent said they’d vote yes, while 33 percent were opposed.”

Yes!

Say What?
