Clinton “Embarrassed”?

A Las Vegas Sun report on a campaign appearance in Las Vegas by Bill Clinton contains the following:

Clinton, who recently made fundraising stops for Democrats in Minnesota and New Jersey, also said he was embarrassed by the recent immigration debate.

He noted that Mexico had become one of the U.S.’s top 10 creditors.

“These people are our bankers,” Clinton said. “Doesn’t it embarrass you that these poor people are trying to sneak over the Rio Grande River to find a living in this country and we want to stop that? But we’re only too happy to turn around and say, ‘Don’t spend your own money on those poor illegal immigrants to give them an education and get a job in Mexico. Loan it to us.’”

I had always thought that Clinton was incapable of embarrassment.

If some people illegaly broke into Bill Clinton’s house to “find a living” there, would Bill be too “embarrassed” to call the police? I think not. He’s just another limousine liberal.

As for Mexico being one of the U.S.’s top 10 creditors…who the hell is “saying” “loan (your money) to us”???? Not the American people. Maybe the politicians, but not the voters. The voters want a balanced budget. Besides, the federal deficit being partially financed by Mexico and the issue of stopping illegal immigration are not mutually exclusive at all. One has nothing to do with the other.

Also, Mexico is not GIVING the USA free money by buying our government debt. It’s an INVESTMENT, paid back WITH INTEREST from the American taxpayer. So it’s like buying our debt is keeping the government of Mexico from helping its own poor people.

Somehow the fact that Mexico has a lot of poor people is OUR fault? And the fact that the Mexican government is notoriously corrupt and incompetent has nothing to do with it? Give me a break.

At least I give credit to Clinton for giving an intelligent-sounding (albeit logically invalid) argument for his treasonous support of illegal immigration. The moron in the White House now just gives us dumb platitudes, cliches, and euphemisms like “we can’t protect the borders without “comprehensive immigration reform” (i.e., amnesty)”, “jobs that Americans won’t do”, “earned legalization”, and “Gee, it’s impossible to build a fence over the entire border”. Bush is no doubt the stupidest president in history. I’d be surprised if our national IQ has not dropped a few points just from listening to this imbicile for 6 years.

…Mexico had become one of the US’s top 10 creditors. If true, this is astonishing to me, since just a few years ago the US had to bail Mexico out of a financial crisis by lending it money. Perhaps Mr. Clinton is referring to private Mexican investment in the US, rather than to investment in US treasury bills by the Mexican government.

So . . . you can give your money to the poor or make money by loaning to the USA. Is that really a choice? Why be embarrassed about making sound financial decisions?

We often hear twists of logic from people of every political persuasion.

But that quote from Clinton seems a marvel of nonsense and misdirection. From Carter we expect this. But from Bill?
