Protestant And Catholic (And Jewish?) Constitutionalism

An excellent article in today’s Boston Globe is based on the work of my good friend, and long time intellectual sparring partner, Sandy Levinson, who has written well and wisely on “Protestant” and “Catholic” methods of Constitutional interpretation.

Read the article to find out how it can be that the most “Protestant” voices on the current Supreme Court belong to the Catholics, Scalia and Thomas; that the most “Catholic” are the two Jews, Ginsburg and Breyer; and that the most “Catholic” justice of all time was a Quaker, John Marshall Harlan.

L’Chaim, y’all.

Say What?
