What’s Happening?

Today’s Washington Post reports that, once again, Kerry will be retooling his position on Iraq and going on the attack. Here, presumably, is an example (with my editorial comments inserted in italics):

… It is not uncommon for Kerry to use some variation of “dishonesty” more than a dozen times in a 30-minute appearance now. [No doubt Bush’s “dishonesty” has bee “seared … seared” into Kerry’s mind by now.]

Amid daily reports of deaths in Iraq, Kerry is trying to portray Bush as disconnected from voters and reality when he offers optimistic assessments. “With all due respect to the president, has he turned on the evening news lately?” [Like “60 Minutes” and the “CBS Evening News with Dan Rather”?] Kerry said Friday in Albuquerque. “Does he read the newspapers? [Do you think he means the New York Times, the LA Times, etc.?] Does he really know what’s happening? Is he talking about the same war that the rest of us are talking about?” [That is, “we” who watch CBS, listen to NPR, read the New York Times…. And, of course, what “we” are talking about is the measure of what’s really happening.]

This suggests, does it not, that a President Kerry would learn “what’s happening” from CBS, the NYT, LAT, etc. How scary is that?

UPDATE

Mark Steyn speaks of those who learn “what’s happening” by watching CBS News as

that dwindling number of misguided people who watch the ”CBS Evening News” under the misapprehension that it’s a news broadcast rather than a new unreality show in which a cocooned anchor, his floundering news division and some feeble executives are trapped on their own isle of delusion and can’t figure out a way to vote themselves off it.

Kerry is going to start mimicking his Vietnam War ‘all is lost’ antics and will lose whatever percentage of the veteran vote he still has.

Kerry’s sister is in Australia stating that their support for the US in Iraq is going to bring increased terrorism against the Aussies at home. Great way to build support with our allies, Kerry! I hope that story gets a lot of play in the MSM. It will help sink Kerry’s campaign quicker than ‘Texas water on ice’.
