Hispanic Diversity

In an article today reporting on the results of an extensive survey of “those who call themselves Hispanic,” the New York Times concluded that Hispanics really weren’t “an ethnic group with common experiences that predictably inform voting behavior .” Indeed, the survey revealed “the extent to which Hispanics are less than monolithic in their background, culture and political beliefs.”

That, of course, didn’t prevent the authors from continuing to discuss Hispanics this and Hispanics that, nor has it undermined the rationale for awarding diversity preferences to Hispanics. Whoever they are.

Say What?
