Democrats + Hypocrisy = DEMOCRISY?

Ipse Dixit reminds us that there the Texas Dems go again, lighting out for the territories and beyond to prevent the legislature from bringing Texas’s congressional districts in line with the political demography of the state.

I haven’t followed this latest spectacle closely enough to have an informed opinion as to whether this behavior is illegal or merely unseemly. One needn’t be an election law expert, however, to observe that the lengths to which Texas Democrats will flee to maintain their undeserved and unrepresentative majority in the Texas congressional delegation casts a harsh and revealing light on the typhoon of party rhetoric emanating from Florida in the late Bush-Gore 2000 unpleasantness. As I recall, at that time Democrats were arguing — from principle, no doubt, not self-interest — that the will of the people was supreme and must not be frustrated by legal chicanery maneuvers.

Say What?
