I have written here too many times to cite about the tragedy of American liberalism abandoning what had long been one of its core principles, that the state should treat its citizens “without regard” to race, creed, or color, and how that abandonment has led to increasingly incoherent notions of the meaning of discrimination and hence of equality.
The trouble, or at least a trouble, with those rants — mine and as well as similar rants by others — is that “American liberalism” is rather amorphous, faceless. But as it happens that abandonment and that incoherence is glaringly evident in Obamacare’s requirement of gender neutrality, in a way that makes it easy to be specific, to remove the facelessness and name an actual name.
To see whom I name as the perfect embodiment of the liberal abandonment of “without regard” equality, you’ll have to read my “The Problem with Obamacare’s ‘Gender Neutrality’” on Minding The Campus.

Maybe if they’d stop moving the goalposts and “reinventing”
their name and position?
