Charles Murray: Trumpism Is Not Irrational

Charles Murray has a brilliant, almost breathtakingly brilliant, article on Trumpism in today’s Wall Street Journal (and also here at the American Enterprise Institute). InstaPundit notes that the “Buzz is growing about this superb analysis.”

Murray recognizes (although to my taste could have emphasized even more than he does) that the opening shot in the liberals’ and elites’ war against the “American creed” was their rejection of the foundational principle that all Americans should be treated “without regard” to race, creed, or color.

This is neo-conservative historical revisionism at its worst. The preamble to the constitution secures “the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.” This is an explicit acknowledgment that the United States was founded for a particular people. This is also reflected in the first naturalization law, which limited citizenship to “free white persons of good character.”

H,mmmm, nope. If one is to start throwing around words like “foundational”, then “as amended” needs to recognize where the compromise for “foundational” came from.
It seems that “regular” 4-5 votes on so-called interpretation of
“This IS/Is NOT Constitutional!” (word meaning/intent/etc.), and what has been deemed by some as Judicial activism, and “Legislature from the bench”.
Oh, there’s PLENTY of reminders that real racism, sexism, bigotry, etc. exist. It’s just that the players, flags, and league leaders, are different today.
In My Humble Opinion of course.
