White House Humor

Valerie Jarrett is widely regarded as the power behind King Barack’s throne, but so far as I know no one has mentioned the comedic talents that are prominently displayed in a Wall Street Journal OpEd she recently authored with that other unsung comedian, Jason Furman, chairman of Obama’s Council of Economic Advisors.

Example 1:  Her ringing endorsement of “the fundamental American belief that hard work, and playing by the rules, are what matter most for anyone looking to get ahead in this nation’s 21st-century workforce.” Can someone please point out the rules this White House plays by? It’s certainly not the rule of law, since the president regards “laws” as but faint suggestions of what he’s supposed to execute.

But now comes the real howler, funny enough to land her a job as chief comedy writer on the TV show of her choice.

Example 2: “American workers should be judged by one thing only: their ability to get the job done.” Really? Who knew that Jarrett opposes affirmative action? When does she plan to tell the president?

Say What?
