Yeah, Riiiight

Here’s another Obama howler, from an interview with the Des Moines Register yesterday:

The president also told the newspaper’s officials that his economic stimulus actions have produced a rebound that is quicker than some other economic recoveries in U.S. history.

“In many ways, because of the actions we took early on, we’re actually ahead of pace in the typical recovery out of a recession like this,” Mr. Obama said.

Actually, this has been the worst recovery from recession in at least the post-World War II era. According to the authoritative Bureau of Economic Research as reported by the Council of Foreign Relations, for example, “[t]he current recovery remains an outlier among postwar recoveries along several dimensions….” A few particulars:

•  GDP: Relative to the end of the recession, real GDP is growing “less rapidly than in any other postwar recovery”

•  Housing: ” Prices have continued to fall even after the recession officially ended…. The continued weakness of nominal home prices is a postwar anomaly

•  Employment: Just look at the graph

Or take a good look at the following comparison of job loss and recovery in every post-war recession:

If you can look at the above charts and agree with Obama that his recovery “has actually been ahead of the pace” of the typical recovery, then you’re an ideal Obama voter and should support him.
