Liberals oppose photo ID requirements for voters, claiming they have a disparate impact on blacks, Hispanics, old people, and other groups likely to vote Democratic who are less likely to have such identification than others and have more trouble getting it.
Why not, then, require all Americans to have officially issued identification, including steps to assist those who need it? Oh, the liberals oppose that, too.
Interestingly, one of the five reasons the ACLU has offered in opposition to national identification is that “a governmental database … would likely contain many errors.” Presumably state voting databases, based on much less stringent identification requirements, have no such problem with errors. Or maybe it’s just that the ACLU has no problem with literally “undocumented” people voting.

What’s the NEXT step, John? Literacy tests? Poll taxes?

why do we have id laws ?
1) to stop people from doing things they shouldn’t – like underage alcohol consumption; I think it is obvious that there a huge demand for UAC, and in the abscence of phot ID theproblem would be much worse
howerver, voter fraud is different; there doesn’t seem to be any evidence of widerspread voter fraud
also, you right wingers consistently seem to underplay the barriers taht photo id laws bring, real barriers that impact real people; if you actually cared about voting rights, why are the fees so high ?
total hypocrittes; you just don’t like the fact taht most americans don’t support your wierd, give the rich everything policys, and you want to cheat.
at least, thats what this liberal thinks
