I’ve blogged here a few times about daughter Jessie, who graduated from Bryn Mawr at 17, finished her PhD in Applied Physics at Caltech right after her 23rd birthday, and has been a research physicist at IBM’s T.J. Watson Research Center since March 2010. Well, there she goes again: she’s just been named to Forbes Magazine’s “30 Under 30 Innovators in Science & Innovation.”
The January 16, 2012, issue of Forbes features lists of
the people who aren’t waiting to reinvent the world. FORBES, leaning on the wisdom of its readers and the greatest minds in business, presents the 30 disrupters under 30, in each of 12 fields, making a difference right now.
Who is reinventing the world? Who should you hire today? Who will you be working for in 20 years? Who, in short, under the age of 30, matters?
Those are the questions we asked Forbes readers and 12 star-studded panels of industry experts as we compiled our first ever “30 Under 30” listing of tomorrow’s brightest stars. From those thousands of nominations our staff reporters worked overtime to cull the list to the 360 ultra impressive up-and-comers listed here.
Jessie’s picture and brief description are here. The list of 30 under 30 science innovators is here (she’s one of the youngest ones on it). The linked description of her work is here.
If I thought that her mother and I had much to do with her success I’d be bursting with pride. As it is … I’m bursting with pride anyway.
Wow! Understandable you would be bursting with pride. You know her, you were privileged to be her father, and she was blessed to have you as her father, because you honor everyone’s role in the matter of Jesse growing up into the amazing accomplished creative and purpose driven individual she is. Thank you so much for sharing. She is an inspiration, as is your love and joy for her and her achievements.
As a parent of 5 I have been proud of much less, and yet as I ponder it, you must have a feeling similar to the parents of #1 draft picks. All while knowing that it is much much deeper, true questions of the pursuit of knowledge are being addressed by your progeny! Good for her and good for you!
Spectacular! Congratulations to Jessie, and her parents.
Congratulations to ALL of you!
Far OUT!! Hearty congratulations!
Congratulations to both you and Jessie. It’s truly an impressive accomplishment.
