A Shocking, And Hence Ignored, Poll On Affirmative Action

On Sept. 26 Survey USA, a major polling organization, released the results of its poll of 500 Californians. Respondents were asked whether or not they favored colleges taking account of race, gender, ethnicity, or national origin in admissions, and the results were broken down by race, age, ethnicity, gender, and region of the state.

The results will knock your socks off, but it’s possible that one of the few people who actually saw the poll was Gov. Jerry Brown, who about ten days after the poll’s release vetoed SB 185, which would have allowed the University of California and California State Universities to consider race, etc. (until the courts struck it down).

See my discussion of that poll and related matters on Minding The Campus, here.

Say What?
