A “Diverse” Perspective On 9/11

Sustained Dialog is a student group at the University of Virginia whose purpose is to serve “as a catalyst for bringing together different types of people and opening lines of communication between racial groups.” On September 12, the Cavalier Daily reports, it “hosted an interfaith dialogue forum … to bring together a diverse group of students and facilitate a discussion to reflect on the Sept. 11 attacks as a human experience, not merely as a story of one single demographic group.”

I’m sure I’m not sufficiently “diverse” in my thinking, but it still seems to me that 9/11 was in fact an attack not on humanity but on America, which in any event it is odd to describe as a “single demographic group.”

Say What?
