Dana Milbank is not known as a member or fellow traveler of the Tea Party, nor is his employer, the Washington Post, known as a hotbed of Obama criticism, but I found it impossible to read his recent column, The most powerful man on Earth?, without wondering whether dereliction of duty qualifies as a high crime or misdemeanor and thus is an impeachable offense.
If not, then I wonder whether the commander in chief is subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice. If so, then he could be court-martialed since dereliction of duty is a clear violation of the Code’s Article 92.
Dereliction of duty is an offense under the UCMJ, but does not apply to Obama. However, his failure to fulfil his oath of office, to see that the laws of the United States are faithfully executed, is an impeachable offense. It is clearly a political issue, but impeachable offenses are whatever the House says it is. And if the Senate agrees, then there is no appeal. It is purely an exercise in political power, that it is true as well is just icing on the cake.
You’ve got to be kidding!! I usually respect Milbank but this column was one of his worst efforts. And you’re finding an impeachable offense in reading Milbank’s column? I didn’t vote for Obama. I wrote in the name of someone, who would’ve been a great president and I still wish he would run. Reagan sent Marines into Lebanon and got 240 of them blown to hell. Along with China, he supported the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia. He participated in an unbelievably stupid arms deal, which involved Iran. He began the great building up of huge deficits, which prompted Cheney to say that Reagan taught us that deficits don’t matter. He and Bush 1 supported Sadaam and gave him a wink and a nod before he invaded Kuwait. I thought that Clinton should have been removed from office. To me, Bush 2 committed two offenses, which could be considered impeachable. He started a war under false pretenses and failed to secure the borders after 9-11. And you want to impeach Obama over something Milbank wrote?
