From the Chronicle of Higher Education:
Historically Black Colleges and Universities Focus on Empowering Black Men
Hmm. Public institutions using foundation money and “with support from the Louisiana legislature” offering a program limited to black men? Since this program “will focus on holistic learning,” someone more cynical and snarky than I might wonder whether this program is really designed to help its beneficiaries.
Someone needs to do a little remedial math. If black males are 32% of the population then the total African-American population for Louisiana would be about 64%, which sounds a bit high.
Somehow I think if a HWCU had the Robert E. Lee holistic program limited to at-risk white males, there would be a big stink.
