Why would anyone think that? There’s no evidence for any post-racialism, and now there is convincing evidence that if Obama had his druthers we’d be back in a world where race could legally permeate just about every educational decision at every level. For doubters, this evidence can be found in a brief the administration has filed supporting a return to the use of race in admissions at the University of Texas, as reported this morning by Inside Higher Ed and the Chronicle of Higher Education.
“Diversity,” according to the brief, “is a paramount government objective.” In fact, the brief goes even further, asserting the administration’s support for “diversity” not only in higher education, where the Supreme Court has given it some protection (more than it deserves) but also in “school systems,” where it has not.
