Jobs For Whom?
Bloomberg reports that in his Saturday radio address
President-elect Barack Obama said he’ll make the “single largest new investment” in roads, bridges and public buildings since the Eisenhower Administration to lift the sagging economy and create jobs.Has anyone asked what, if any, steps Obama will take to ensure that all those 2.5 million new jobs go to American citizens or legal resident aliens? Would not the predictable effect of failing to enforce a citizenship requirement be to suck a new wave of illegals into the country and enable those already here to stay?Obama ... said his plan to create or preserve 2.5 million jobs will also include making public buildings more energy efficient, repairing schools and modernizing health care with electronic medical records.

Congratulations John on recognizing that illegal immigration is being used as leverage to advance left-wing social policy and ensure a steady pool of Democratic voters.
There is nothing Liberal about using illegal immigration to bust wages and fracture the nation along ethnic/racial lines. Indeed, Cesar Chavez strongly opposed illegal immigration as he recognized that it lowered farmworker wages and kept Latinos trapped in menial jobs. Similarly, there is nothing Liberal about keeping Latino children trapped in the ghetto of bilingual and bicultural education.
