Hillary “Disloyal” To Hispanics!

Although entirely predictable, the following would be funny if it weren’t so sad (HatTip to reader Jian Li):

February 12, 2008 -- A prominent member of the national Democratic Party has circulated a sharp e-mail saying the removal of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton campaign manager Patti Solis Doyle was disloyal to Hispanics and should give “pause” to superdelegates and voters.

The e-mail from, Steven Ybarra, a California superdelegate who heads the voting-rights committee of the DNC Hispanic Caucus, was sent to fellow caucus members in the hours after word broke that Solis Doyle — the most prominent Latina in Clinton’s campaign — would be replaced by another close Clinton loyalist, Maggie Williams, who is black.

One of the many problems with identity politics is that every crumb thrown to a member of one group is an act of blatant “disloyalty” to all other groups.

The Democrats seem increasingly less like a political party and more like a precarious confederation of conflicting tribes.

Say What?

It might be a `natural` liberal perception that exchanging black people for latino people and vice versa is "politics". I am sure, that a lot of the "racially consious" liberal voters think and act according to their firm belief that intelligence and competence can be determined by skin colour - but the really sad part about this article is not that Clinton acts this way (more than predictable) but that there is a democratic delegate who publically admitts to be placing his vote according to the race of the people on the team of the candidates. This is not some knucklehead off the streets - this is a person who has been entrusted with shaping the future of the country and he publically admitts to viewing race more important than competence. That is the real shame!

If I was running for President, and lost 10 primaries in a row, I would fire my campaign manager too.

You're right about the Democrats. I wish they could be more like the unified, consistent Republican party. How you can you help but admire their staunch support for a true conservative like Mitt Romney. So what if he trumpeted his pro-choice, pro-gun control positions when running for Senate and Governor. I'm sure he means it now when he says he's anti-abortion and loves to hunt vermin. Clearly he's more conservative than John McCain. I mean, he actually voted against an irrational tax cut and is opposed to waterboarding. So what if he has espouse conservative beliefs during the rest of his career. Yup, those Republicans can teach the Democrats something about consistency and unity.

The amazing thing is libs don't understand why this hurts the people they purport to help

Andrew, being entrusted with shaping the future of the country and being a knucklehead off the streets are, sadly, not mutually exclusive.

The funny thing is, if this e-mail were unsigned, people would assume it was a GOP plant to drive a wedge between hispanics/blacks/whites and make Democrats look insane.

At best, they'd argue it was some obscure DINO who didn't represent the party.

But this guy is a key party insider.

I don't know about "a lot" but the ones that do sure stir up a lot of attention and create a bad image for libs/Dems generally. The worst part is, this isn't so much a "liberal trait" as a personal chip on their shoulder and insecurity about themselves due to race. Examples? There was a man in line ahead of me at the store one time who was being kind of a pain to the cashier. The store was busy and she was getting a bit exasperated. Suddenly the guy says, "She don't like Mexicans! That girl don't like Mexicans!" Um, no. Your being Mexican hasn't a thing to do with it. She's annoyed because you're being a pain in the ass! I knew a woman who was like that, too. One time when we were having lunch together she confronted another woman who was there whom I didn't get along with and caused a big scene. Afterwards, when I asked her why she did that she immediately said, "it's because I'm black, isn't it? You're mad because I'm black!" I told her, "I don't care if you're black, white or purple with green spots, I'm upset because that was an uncomfortable and embarrassing public situation back there--OK? If I was the kind of person that wouldn't like you just because you're black, would I even be here with you?" She was sort of taken aback but then understood where I was coming from. Being of a minority race doesn't mean you have free license to screw up and/or act like a jerk and not get called on it, by anybody whether of your race or not.
