James Kirchik, identified as being on the editorial staff of The New Republic, has a devastatingly effective OpEd in the Los Angeles Times today on the “intrinsic hypocrisy” and the “blatant intellectual inconsistency” of liberals who support affirmative action criticizing Justice Clarence Thomas as an incompetent “affirmative action hire.”
Actually, since these days, unlike in the beginning, it seems that all liberals, not just some of them, support affirmative action, my restrictive clause above should be non-restrictive. That is, I should join Kirchik in complaining about “the ‘blatant intellectual inconsistency’ of liberals, who support affirmative action, criticizing Justice Clarence Thomas….”
