Liberals and Democrats claim to believe in “diversity,” but how do they treat ideas with which they disagree? All too frequently by trying to silence them.
Thus, the Detroit News reports, when Ann Coulter was invited to speak at Cleary University in Michigan, “the Livingston Diversity Council and local Democratic Party requested the event to be canceled.” (HatTip to reader Alex Bensky)
Some “diversity.”
It’s amazing how often I hear phrases like “academic freedom” and “freedom of speech” tossed around higher educational circles when supporting radical leftist or even intolerant fundamentalist muslim speakers, and how quickly these words fade from memory when a conservative speaker is involved.
The Diversity thought-police trumps the constitution I suppose.
Let’s go by the article, and see if I have this math straight;
>>>”Conservative columnist Ann Coulter spoke to a sold-out crowd of about 500 on Monday, taking jabs at her favorite targets: liberals…
…The New York Times best-selling author delivered her liberal-bashing one-liners to thunderous laughter and applause from the $60-a-plate crowd…
…”I thought she was funny, more abrasive than I anticipated. She’s very bright and intelligent and she’s right on with where this country is going and where we need to go,” said Cindy Jonckheere of Brighton.
Whether Coulter was worth the $30,000 speaker fee she was paid by the Livingston Economic Club, Jonckheere said she was outraged that one speech was worth the same as what some people make in salary annually. “No one is worth that much (as a speaker),” she said.”

OK…500 people at $60 a plate = $30,000. There’s certainly not much “free” about Coulter’s free speech rights, is there?
Don’t get me wrong. I don’t begrudge anyone making an honest dollar, and at Cleary University, located in Howell, Michigan, Coulter found consumers eager to buy up all the hate I believe she sells. It’s all about marketing to the right target audience, and I guess Coulter’s handlers did their research about Howell…
>>>”HOWELL, Mich. (AP) – Ku Klux Klan robes sold for up to $1,425 and a KKK knife drew a $400 bid Saturday during an auction of KKK paraphernalia that critics have blasted as insensitive.
Auctioneer Gary Gray said a steady stream of people visited the auction house in Howell, about 55 miles west of Detroit, in the hours leading up to the sale, where participants could bid on seven KKK robes and items including buttons, books, movies and a lantern.
“Maybe I have taught more people about history, at least this week, than some schools,” Gray said. “It’s not a question of racism. That’s intertwined. But it’s not the main focus.”
One of the robes was bought for $700 by the Jim Crow Museum of Racist Memorabilia at Ferris State University in Big Rapids. Museum officials hope to use it to teach tolerance.
“I felt like I was at a Klan rally at some times,” museum curator David Pilgrim said.
Other robes sold for $1,425 and $1,150. Many of the people who bought items did not give their names. One person was seen wearing a KKK pin, and another wore an arm band with a Nazi swastika. “

Well, in retrospect, I guess dropping $60 for a lunch special followed by 90 minutes of Ann Coulter (insert indigestion joke here) seems like a bargain to many folks in Howell, a shining example of the newly “color-blinded” State of Michigan, huh?

Cobra, this may be your nuttiest attempt yet to connect every activity by any conservative to the Ku Klux Klan.
Pure fruity nutjob nonsense.

I find it “interesting” that in Howell, Michigan, people will bid up to $400 for a “KKK Knife”, AND shell out $60 to listen to Ann Coulter after lunch.
Given this environment, why would ANYBODY be shocked that the MCRI passed?
Second, Stephen…exactly what problem do you have with my post?
What is your opinion of Ann Coulter being paid $30K in a financially depressed Michigan town?
What is your opinion of holding a KKK paraphenalia Auction–apparently well attended–in that very same town?
What do you believe it says about the town of Howell, Michigan?

How many people attend a Farakhan lecture? How many buy up Moslem accessories after hearing a speech about white men being created by the devil? In a town like Philadelphia, where just the other day, only 4 blocks from my mother’s house, two white men were killed by a Black man who stole a bag that he thought was filled with money, but turned out to be empty.
This type of logic is too easy.
What do you believe it says about the town of Howell, Michigan?
Absolutely nothing. Next question?
