Michigan To Coleman: Switch, Don’t Fight

Reader Alex Bensky sends this link to a bunch of letters published in the Detroit Free Press in response, partly, to the passage of the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative but, primarily, telling University of Michigan president Mary Sue Coleman (whose “hissy fit,” as described by one of these writers, I discussed here) to recognize the authority of the citizens of Michigan to amend their constitution in a way that she, their employee, does not like.

Most of these letters were critical of Coleman, but there was a useful reminder that some people continue to believe that the determination to treat everyone without regard to race now makes Michigan “the world center for bigotry and racism.”

Say What?
