The “Diversity” Elite

Among all high school graduates in 2005, according to figures in this article originally published in the Chicago Tribune,

there were 864 blacks and 2,033 Latinos who earned a composite score of 29 or above on the ACT, while 66,708 white seniors did.

In the SAT testing program, there were 696 blacks and 1,458 Latino seniors in the class of 2005 who earned combined scores of 1400 or higher, while 36,471 white seniors did.

Most of the “diversity” recruiting conducted by elite universities is aimed at this very small pool of minority high achievers, who can write their own ticket. I wonder how “diverse” this pool actually is.

That sounds like bullshit. I’m a mexican with a 1350, 2010 (with the essay) and I sure as hell haven’t been given my own ticket to write at any Ivy League, much less acceptance into the University of Texas.
