“Diversity”? Well, Sometimes

There they (the Democrats) go again.

Some of you may recall that the Democrats opposed the nomination of Miguel Estrada to an appellate court because “he is a Latino,” and hence posed a real political threat. (See here for one discussion of this; search “Estrada” on this blog for many more.)

Now they’re especially frightened of Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael Steele’s campaign to replace retiring Sen. Paul Sarbanes. Steele, you see, is black, and a strategist hired by the Democratic National Committee has warned that he poses a real threat and that efforts must be taken now “to knock Steele down” before he gains even more traction among black voters. Earlier, DNC staffers were caught stealing Steele’s financial information.

“Diversity,” the Democrats obviously believe, is nice … until and unless it threatens to elevate a conservative or Republican. Then skin color and ethnicity suddenly become irrelevant.

Say What?
