“Diversity” At Harvard

From an interview with Harvard government professor Harvey Mansfield in today’s New York Times Magazine:

Q: As a staunch neoconservative and the author of a new feminism-bashing book called “Manliness,” how are you treated by your fellow government professors at Harvard?

Look, if I only consorted with conservatives, I would be by myself all the time.

Ah, but surely Prof. Mansfield exaggerates, doesn’t he? Let’s see, he could … he could … well, he could probably arrange to have lunch with history professor Stephan Thernstrom from time to time.

On the other hand, if you count only intellectual firepower and not numbers, liberals and lefties — no matter how many of them there are — will be outgunned on any faculty that contains both Harvey Mansfield and Steve Thernstrom.

The harvard law school federalist society has 300 members. I’m sure they’d love to have lunch with Dr. Manly. Or maybe just charles fried.

Then again, lunch with Dr. Manly sounds rather awful, from the few bits of his work i’ve seen.
