More (Diverse?) Views On Diversity At UVa

Two excellent pieces on diversity at UVa appeared recently in Bacon’s Rebellion: one, by Jim Bacon, and one by Conaway Haskins.

    Do you really agree with Haskins that:

    “Though laudatory as a long-term societal goal, colorblindness is a quaint notion that often ignores real-world inequities and the persistence of historical memory that is alive now.”

    No, I don’t agree, but I think it’s an interesting, well-done article.

    Thanks for the plug about the UVA pieces, it would be great to get your take on my somewhat pessimistic view of colorblindness as a realistic concept.
