“Diversity” And Busing

I have argued here on more than one occasion that the arguments in favor of “diversity” are reminiscent of the old arguments for busing to achieve racial balance. According to this article pointed out to me by reader Fred Ray, in Wake County, North Carolina, the arguments are not similar but identical.

There is a faint attempt (perhaps that should be be feint) to defend Wake County busing by saying its purpose is to promote “economic diversity,” but if that is so why are critics accused of favoring policies, i.e., ending the cross-county busing, that would lead to “resegregation”?
