Advice From Sen. Reid: Think About Hispanics Every Day

Mark Krikorian on NRO’s The Corner points to this useful advice to President Bush that appeared yesterday on Sen. Harry Reid’s web site: after suggesting that the president “should break his pattern of not being honest with the American people on the failures of his administration,” advice I’m sure the president will find welcome, Sen. Reid then says “President Bush Needs to Think About Hispanics Every Day of the Year.”

Yes, but what should he think? Sen. Reid must think about Hispanics every day. If he really wanted to be helpful he should post those Hispanic thoughts on his web site every day to help the rest of along in our Hispanic thinking.

As one example of how “we can do better” regarding Hispanics, Sen. Reid says

    I’m sure that “codifying existing standards for culturally and linguistically appropriate health care” would be quite helpful, especially for those of us, like me, who don’t know what “culturally appropriate” health care is.

    It means that they are advocating female genital mutilation for Muslim girls.

    It means that every health care provider has to hire an interpreter, for which he or she can appeal to the feds for reimbursement.

    If we continue down the path of more and more governmental “help” for Hispanic immigrants, the problems will all be solved. Because the free market system will be destroyed, America will devolve into a third-world country, and there will be no reason for anyone to immigrate here.

    My periodontist is a Latino. Do you suppose I’m not getting culturally appropriate dental care from him?
