Die By The Polls, Live By The Polls?

Howard Bashman today reports too many news articles for me to cite that are a variation on the theme that Bush’s “falling poll numbers” weaken his position in the upcoming struggle to replace O’Connor.

One problem with these articles is that, er, Bush’s poll numbers are now rising; “his approve-disapprove rating [is] about where it was in early August, before Katrina and Rita.”

Similar results can be found here (CNN/Gallup) and here (Fox/Opinion Dynamics).

No doubt the press will now follup up its spate of “weakening Bush” articles with a new, fresh spate of “strenghening Bush” articles.

Yeah, right.

Maybe he has some sort of insider’s information and is using THOSE polls. Kind of like the insider’s information Dan Rather used.

Chris Matthews took a Lefty to task tonight for accussing the Bush administration of being corrupt. Asking him to name one person who has been indicted Matthews plastered the guest. When Matthews acts this way you know which way the polls are moving.
