Texas Re-institutes Race Preferences, Keeps Top 10%

Texas is returning to preferences while keeping its Top 10% program. According to Don Hale, Vice President of Public Affairs at the University of Texas in Austin,

The 10 percent law is not enough to increase minority enrollment,” he said. “We’re committed to diversity.”

And, I’m tempted to say, committed they should be.

    I suspect it was inevitable for the pro-AA administrators of UT to do an end run around the 10% policy. Sandra Day O’Connor gave them their opening with her deciding “split decision” vote in the U of Michigan cases.

    I hope she decides to retire soon. The Supreme Court needs a decisive “swing vote” justice who will decide AA cases in favor of the 14th Amendment, instead of caving in to pressure from thugs such as BAMN.
