Don’t forget that JFK also left Cuban dissidents to be mowed down on the beach by Castro’s thugs. When they were expecting help from him, he did not give the order to the armed forces.

Whatever he may have believed, it was LBJ who finally pushed through a meaningful civil rights act.
And it was GOP majorities in both the House and Senate that made the CRA law.
