According to an administration report, the country “is failing miserably to assimilate immigrants.” Painting what it called a “morbid picture” of “ghettos, soaring unemployment, inadequate education,” and a “socially and professionally disadvantaged community,” the government report nevertheless rejected “positive discrimination or affirmative action” and instead called for a renewed commitment to “genuine equality of opportunity for all,” it said, “based solely on merit.”
Just what you’d expect, right? The country, of course, is France.
UPDATE: A second bake sale took place today at W&M. While the administration did not shut it down, Sullivan put out a press release saying that the college was right in suppressing our free speech rights at the first sale. This statement is absolutely ridiculous and unfounded. Looks like he wasn’t through blasting dissenters who stood up for free speech- we stand up for free speech at a second sale and are ‘inexcusably hurtful.’
