Cheap Shot

Richard Holbrooke, ambasssador to the U.N. and leading diplomatic light of the Clinton administration (just ask him), takes a wholly gratuitous cheap shot at the Bush administration in an OpEd in today’s Washington Post. Writing of his friend who was just killed in Iraq, Holbrooke says that “[e]ven the Bush administration knew that Vieira de Mello was something special.”

In other words, Holbrooke is saying, Colin Powell, Donald Rumsfeld, Condoleeza Rice, and George W. Bush may be dumb (after all, they have not appointed Holbrooke to high office or apparently relied on his advice), but even they are not that dumb.

Say What?
