General Isolationism Or Isolated Isolationism?

William Raspberry, normally a sensible columnist even when he’s wrong, writes that he no longer believes Colin Powell and hence is skeptical of war with Saddam because “there is no evidence he is doing anything to us.” (His emphasis)

I haven’t gone back to check Raspberry’s positions on our bombing of the Serbs, our war in Vietnam, our war in Korea, or our involvement in World Wars I and II. Chances are he thinks Vietnam a mistake and our involvement in the other wars justifed. But neither the Serbs nor the Koreans nor the Germans had done anything to us before our involvement in wars against them. There are those who think all these wars were a mistake. They are called isolationists. Perhaps Raspberry is one of them.

Raspberry, and others who make attacking us a pre-requisite for our wars, have some further explaining to do.

Say What?
