Buckeye Bull

This morning the Chronicle of Higher Education reports that Ohio State University was barred from signing an amicus brief in the Michigan cases by Jim Petro, the Republican Attorney General, who must approve all legal filings by public institutions in Ohio. Petro thinks the Michigan practices are unconstitutional. (Link requires subscription)

The AG does not have veto power over Buckeye bull, however, and Ohio State’s Council on Diversity issued a statement supporting Michigan, affirming that in its view “diversity is not a deficit, but a dividend, not a burden but a blessing, not a fad but our future.”
