IUNS (Invidious Ubiquitous Non Sequiturs) In the Washington Post

The Letters to the Editor seciton of Saturday’s Washington Post prints fours letters in a box headed “Getting Into College.” Three of them commit the invidious ubiquitous non sequitur, often criticized here, of asserting that racial discrimination is no worse than discriminating on the basis of athletic ability or legacy status. To be consistent, people and even editors who actually believe this should advocate repealing, or at least amending, the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
