Newsday has an article today reporting on the efforts of some Democratic operatives who are urging the Party to cultivate its "base."

But they charge the ads were negative by accusing Democrats of taking African-Americans for granted, and were aimed at suppressing the black vote.That's actually an interesting point: if Republicans say what Al Sharpton and others quoted in the article say, it's negative campaigning.....
