Quote of the Day I

(You didn’t know we had a quote of the day, did you? I didn’t either, until I saw them in the papers this morning.)

So, without further ado (adieu?), here is the first in the new occasional series of Quotes of the Day. The following is from Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson (D, Tex) and Rep. Carrie Meek (D, Fla), Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus and the CBS’s Haiti Task Force, respectively, in a letter to the Wall Street Journal today:

Over the past 10 years, the U.S. has granted asylum to dozens of “refugees” from stable, economically advanced, literate and long-time democracies such as Britain, Germany, France, Canada and Mexico. Basic justice and fairness demands that Haitians be afforded the same rights and the same treatment as other groups from other countries.

Dozens? I would like to see a list of “refugees” from Britain, Germany, France, Canada, and Mexico whom we have granted “asylum.”

Say What?
